gonna be

So when you look at yourself,
tell me, who do you see?
Is it the person you've been,
or the person that you're
gonna be?

IN JULY

BOOKS READ
Uncle Fred in the Springtime, by P. G. Wodehouse - Very funny. Perfect Wodehouse. 5/5
~How to Read a Book, by Mortimer J. Adler - I didn't get much out of this book, especially for it being so long. Toward the end there were some good notes. It wasn't very useful to me. 2/5
~Born in the Year of Courage, by Emily Crofford - About a Japanese boy in the mid-1800s (during Japan's self-isolation) who's shipwrecked and picked up by American sailors. Really cool story; I enjoyed it a lot. 4/5

~: on my summer to-read list

STUFF WATCHED
(I'm trying to be very hard/honest with my ratings this time so they'll probs be lower on average. But just saying, I almost always enjoy movies and like something about them.)
movies
Spy Kids - The story is fun. Watched it late at night with my brother. That was fun. 3/5
Valkyrie - Great story. 3/5
Knight and Day - Some funny moments. 2/5
*Mission Impossible 1-5 - Rogue Nation is perfect.
Jack Reacher - It'll be fun to see the sequel in October. 2/5
Oblivion - Good sci-fi. 3/5
Top Gun - Planes are cool and the music gives it good vibes. It'll be fun to see the sequel when it comes out. 3/5
Far and Away - Odd. 2/5
Legend - Also odd. Like an old fairy tale, except not and 80s-ish. 1/5
Minority Report - I didn't get anything out of this one. 2/5
Zuma Beach - Random old tv movie. 2/5
War of the Worlds - Didn't care for this one. Also the title didn't quite seem to fit. 2/5
Notting Hill - Ultimately didn't care for this one either. 2/5
Water for Elephants - Adventurous story. Interesting casting choices for the leads. This one didn't fully explain its title either. 3/5
Jason Bourne - Fits right in with the first three Bourne movies. Exactly. Not very different from them in fact. But I loved the last shot. 2/5
Mean Girls - 2/5
series
*Sherlock
Psych
*Doctor Who (a single ep.)
Chuck - Sweet characters and funny. It feels a little slower paced.
Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street - This is perfect at what it is (especially the first season), fun and magical.

BEST IN JULY: Top Gun, Oblivion, Born in the Year of Courage, Uncle Fred in the Springtime (this one is hilarious if you like British humor, or should I say humour?).

It seems to be a repeating thing with me that I watch a lot of stuff in July. It's fun to watch a bunch of movies with the same actor and study their expressions and mannerisms. I still want to see Secret Life of Pets. I'm working on talking family into going. Mom is weakening. What good books and movies have you been enjoying lately? I hope you all have a lovely August. xx

The only thing consoling me that the summer is ending is that Marvel movies are coming.
