Liked all the books I read this month, especially Siddhartha which I hadn't read before. Watched a lot of Leonardo DiCaprio movies. My favorites are the The Great Gatsby and Catch Me if You can. Romeo + Juliet, Marvin's Room, and Titanic are good too. Do you have a favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movie?

Went to see Doctor Strange today. It was so well done, really good. Perfect. I love it. It's my 1st or 2nd favorite Marvel movie now. Have you seen it?

I hope you all have a happy November! xx

  1. I want to watch Doctor Strange so badly! How is The Great Gatsby? I haven't watched the movie but I read the book for the first time recently and I kind of liked it despite the fact that all of the characters are unlikable-- kind of like the commentary / point Fitzgerald is trying to point out, though. The idea of idealism.

    1. DOCTOR STRANGE IS SO WONDERFUL. I know you'll have a great time watching it. I hope you get to see it soon :)

Okay, so when I read The Great Gatsby I didn't like it, for exactly the reason you said - the characters are unlikeable/don't have much admirable about them. But it was the sort of book that stayed in the back of my head and I thought about it for a while and I think I finally get the point Fitzgerald was trying to make. Now I see there was a point to the everything the book was, and so I like it now.

I liked the movie because the way the story is told/movie is edited is creative and works well and the movie itself is a beautiful spectacle, but neither of those things would be enough to make me like it -- what made me like it is that I thought that the movie exactly made the point Fitzgerald was making.

  4. Yay Doctor Strange! :D :D Are you going to write a review for it?

What did you think of Star Trek Beyond? And the Hunger Games? I'm kinda surprised you haven't seen that before already. Have you read the books?

Based on your reply to MorningTime, we have different opinions on The Great Gatsby. I've always adored the book (still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of why!) but didn't like the movie. Any movie, so far. :P But I've always been of the opinion that Gatsby is a personal story -- like, it's different for everyone, and everyone sees different meaning in it. All that to say, I'm glad Luhrmann's version worked for you! I was always so disappointed that it didn't work for me, because I ADORE the cast, and it's so extravagant and beautiful! But it just doesn't portray what I saw and loved in the book. :/

    1. Yay! :D gah, I don't know. It would be fun to. That and Rogue One.

Star Trek Beyond wasn't very memorable but it was fun while I was watching it with my brother. haha, yeah. I haven't read the books. I didn't really care for the movie, it didn't really have any draw for me. JLaw is cool though.

Really?! I thought I finally saw what you saw in it haha. I guess not. :/ That makes sense though, what you said about it being a personal story.

  5. Great recap! I watched Doctor Strange pretty recently, it was so good! I loved it because of the concept behind it, and because of Benedict Cumberbatch :-)
